Description

motodrome offer this exceptional 1998/R (but comes with the plate shown) Land Rover Defender 90 TUL HS FFR Hard Top 300TDi, otherwise known as a Wolf, finished in Nato IRR drab.

Fitted with the full ‘Remus’ upgrade including front roll cage extensions and acoustic matting.

However, this one is a bit special compared to a run of the mill example, in that the last owner, who’s had it since 2020, had an Ashcroft ZF 4HP22 automatic transmission (with new gearbox) professionally fitted in 2020, which, together with the standard-fit power steering, makes it a doddle to drive.

He’s also reconfigured the load area to make it a snug one-person camper, with a single fold-down bed, Microwave oven, and lots of storage and internal lighting. And an on-board compressor.

It’s also fitted with an Eberspacher diesel night heater which, combined with the extra insulation fitted to the Hard Top models, makes it very warm and snug inside for the night, we’re told.

All Wolfs are 24 volt, but this one has been fitted with switchable 12 volt step-down to enable ancilliaries such as the Alpine stereo, satnav, reversing camera, CB radio, and the load area electrics to work.

Externally, the spec has been enhanced with a set of 5 desirable Blindo wheels (shod with BFG KM3 Mud-Terrain 225/85 16 tyres), Superwinch with Dyneema rope, mounted on winch bumper, LED lights (not headlights, rocksliders, and Mantec swingaway spare wheel carrier

Mechanically it’s uprated with alloy deep-core radiator, full size alloy intercooler, wide angle front prop, dislocation cones, and Ashcroft air locking rear diff.

In otherwise-standard Wolf Remus military-spec, its fitted with: the correct 300tdi engine, power steering, steering guard, front light guards, , rear bumperettes, rear mudflaps, NATO towhook, rear step, pioneer tools, and the correct military spec roll bar assembly.

It also comes with a rear awning, although we haven’t unpacked this, and ration bags.

Odometer reading 97000kms, so 61000 miles, and I can confirm it runs and drives perfectly, as I’ve used it extensively since it arrived.

The last owner has had it properly serviced and maintained by Safari Engineering over the last 6 years.

He also had it fully dinitrolled in 2020, and the certificate is in the file.

Comes with MOT to February 2027, with no advisories.

No VAT either chargeable or recoverable on this one, all properly UK registered, and potentially US exportable.

It drives exactly as a Wolf should, with plenty of power and a feeling of unbreakable strength that you don’t get with civilian ones – the chassis and running gear are far tougher on a Wolf.

A rare chance to acquire a fully sorted Wolf, that’s had thousands spent on it by the last owner to make it as such.

On our own website, you’ll find our usual 2 videos: a walkaround appraisal, and driving impressions, which form part of the description.
