Description

motodrome offer for sale this quite superb 1976 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 SWB hardtop 7-seater , finished in 416 Dune Beige with white roof, and black vinyl interior.

These have a growing following in the UK, and with good reason – they’re brilliant (much better than a Land Rover!) , and looking like the quintessential Tonka Toy doesn’t do them any harm either.

This one is believed to be an ex Japanese domestic market example, that was first registered in the UK in late 2018.

It’s obviously been the subject of a complete body off restoration to a very good standard, but unfortunately we don’t know who by. Or when, for that matter, but it’s likely to have been done professionally whilst here in the UK as the standard is exceptional.

It retains it’s rear bench seats making it a 7 seater (if you’re intimate with fellow passengers) all with seat belts, and the ubiquitous ‘million mile engine’ AKA the Toyota 2F 4.2 litre straight six petrol motor, which provides massive torque, and relentless reliability, coupled to a 3-speed gearbox, and 2-speed transfer box with selectable 4 wheel drive

It’s fitted with 15in rims in gloss grey, shod with a matching set of 750 x 15 all terrain tyres, swingaway spare wheel carrier, rear bumperettes, NATO towhook, the desirable rear barn doors, and is also fitted with aftermarket aircon, which has apparently been there from new. It blows, but how cold it gets is impossible to tell until the weather gets warmer.
Odometer reading under 2000km, and we're given to understand the odometer was zeroed at restoration.
We're told it's recently had the following
• Recently replaced clutch system, including master and slave cylinders.
• New ignition components including points, plugs, leads and coil.
• Distributor cap recently replaced.
• Cooling system refreshed with new thermostat and temperature sender.
• Fuel lines replaced.
• Engine oil and filter recently changed.
• Gearbox and transfer case fluids changed.

It has superb road presence, and certainly makes an interesting change from a classic Land Rover. You’ll certainly stand out in this.

On our own website, you’ll find our usual 2 videos: a walkaround appraisal, and driving impressions, which form part of the description.
