This 1961 Mark II MGA Coupe we have for sale was first registered on 25th October 1961 and is offered for sale as a total restoration project on behalf of a valued customer. It is an original RHD UK car which still retains its original brown log book as well as a current V5C.
We are offering the car for sale “as it is” for any potential buyer to restore themselves OR we can discuss with a buyer the option of Junction 59 restoring the car on their behalf.

We believe this car would look stunning if restored to its original colour scheme of black exterior and red interior.

Out of approximately 101 081 MGA’s produced between 1955 & 1962 there were only approximately 3,834 Roadsters and 2,035 Coupes (total 5869) sold into the UK market.

Out of the 2035 UK market Coupes it is estimated that the breakdown of the production is as follows (needs to be checked with the MG Club to verify exact figures)

This car is one of the 219 Mark II UK cars of which 168 were built in 1961 and 51 in 1962
Research and available documents show that the car was taken off the road on 26th Dec 1979 with a mileage of 18,467. (Unverified) It has a MK 11 1622cc engine and 4 speed gearbox and currently has fibre glass wings.

Contained in the history file are various documents provided by previous owners detailing their involvement and some history of the car.
It appears that he engine was rebuilt at some stage (refer to previous owners documents in the history file) and re-renumbered. Further research with the DVLA, British Motor Industry Heritage Trust and MG Club confirmed that the engine should have retained its original number as the whole engine was not replaced. All this correspondence to the DLVA, British Motor Industry Heritage Trust and MG Club confirm that the original numbering should be retained and this is what the current V5C now shows. The buyer should review all the correspondence on file to satisfy themselves of this.
