Description

This 1960 MGA Roadster we have for sale is an original PHD UK car still retains its original brown log book as well as a current V5C and is being offered for sale on behalf of a valued customer.

Out of approximately 101 081 MGA’s produced between 1955 & 1962 there were only approximately 3,834 Roadsters and 2,035 Coupes (total 5869) sold into the UK market.

Interestingly this car was one of several white MGA roadsters that were involved in the 1985 advertisement for a brand of cigars. The history file includes newspaper/magazine extracts detailing this event as well as photographs.

This car was first registered on 19th July 1960 in traditional Old English and comes with the original brown registration log book, maintenance manual together with some history in form of receipts and MOTs.

The car is well known to J59 Classics (and our former specialist company Simon J Robinson). It was sold by Simon J Robinson in 1982 after undergoing restoration and was retained by that owner for approximately 34 years.

The car came back to us for sale in 2016 from the long-term owner and was purchased by the current owner who has restored the car to a high standard including quality body repairs and a full engine /gearbox out respray as well as replacement and refurbishment of many components. Details are shown in the 12-page restoration manual. The receipts show that almost £17,000 has been spent on the car in the last 2 years alone.

The car retains much originality with it 1588cc engine and 4 speed gearbox but has had fitted a radiator fan to assist engine cooling. In addition, an anti-roll bar has been fitted to assist with steering.

The current owner has used the car on local MG Club outings and events and the history file shows the car winning a trophy prior to the refurbishment.
The history file shows all the owners from new and using the invoices and MOT certificates build a picture of the mileage of 76,623 (as of 18/02/2019) which appears genuine but should be verified by the buyer. In addition, the documentation also shows all relevant correspondence with the DVLA & MG car club with respect to research on the car and engine etc.

The car comes complete with:
• Tonneau cover
• Luggage rack
• Powder coated wire wheels
• Motor Lita steering wheel
• Front fog lamps
• Concealed Radio (hidden behind magnetic MG dashboard badge)
• Full Owner history
• Original Brown Log Book
• Some MOT history
• Repair and arts receipts
• Original Owner’s Manual
• Maintenance Manual
• Tool Kit
For ease of use the car has had installed a trickle charger point and a kill/immobiliser switch.
