Description

FOR SALE
An astonishing Ford Focus RS Mk1 totally standard and impeccable history.

MODEL HISTORY
Inspired by the Late Colin McRae’s victorious Ford Focus RS World Rally Car, the Ford Focus RS was created as a no frills, no compromise road going rally car, a car true to its motorsport roots. Designed in conjunction with Ford Racing Engineers and M-Sport in Cumbria, the RS badge synonymous with the most desirable, high performance Ford vehicles was first introduced to the already accomplished Focus. Just 4,501 examples were built with only 2,147 sold to the UK market.

EQUIPMENT
Computer optimised unitary welded steel body, rigid occupant safety cell, energy absorbing crumple zones, wider front and rear pressed steel wings, auxiliary air intakes, aerodynamic splitter and rear wing, mounted side sills, modified lower rear apron, driver and front passenger airbags, air conditioning, leather sports steering wheel with blue inserts, carbon fibre centre console with start button, limited edition number plaque, Sparco aluminium handbrake, gear knob and pedals, boost gauge and ‘change up light’, bright metal tread plates with RS script, stereo radio/6CD model 6006E, Thatcham CAT 1 alarm. Dealer Options: RS floor mats.

EXTERIOR
Here we present build number 3260 finished in Imperial Blue Metallic, (Code Q2), the only available colour. The electrifying deep blue finish is simply outstanding and despite the soft paint finish associated with this model very few imperfections will be found, namely a few light stone chips to the front. All the glass, plastics and light clusters are preserved and originality seekers will be pleased to see supplying dealer number plates and tax disc holder as well as factory stickers in the door apertures. The underside displays the factory finish with part component labels still visible. This unmolested example will delight anyone seeking an unspoilt car, factory correct and pampered throughout.

INTERIOR
Inside this white-hot Ford are a pair of body-hugging Sparco road-race seats swathed in luxurious Racing Black and Blue Leather and Black Alcantara, (Code AR). The RS and Sparco logos are embossed and stitched into the upholstery and this, coupled with the aluminium fittings, push button start and numbered plaque, leave you with little doubt this is no ordinary Focus! The seats are very clean with only minimal deterioration to the Alcantara to the driver’s seat. The steering wheel blue leather, a known weak point, is in great condition. The RS carpet mats remain fitted and are in excellent condition. Ford built this car to truly delight its motorsport loving RS devoted fan base, and they hit it just right!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with the Ford 2.0 Duratec RS four-cylinder 16v unit needing little introduction, the power output achieved is 212bhp at 5500rpm and 310Nm torque at 3500rpm. The maximum speed is 144mph while 0-60 is dispatched in just 6.4 seconds! The engine bay is beautifully clean with factory plates, stickers, labels and wing stamps visible. The Ford MTX-75 gearbox with a heavy-duty AP Racing clutch offers the ultimate rally road car experience.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The unique 8 x 18in Oz Racing rims are pristine and are shod in the premium Goodyear Eagle F1 225/40 ZR18 tyres dated 2023 with minimal mileage since. Peer through the large openings between the spokes and very clean Brembo 4-pot calipers and 324mm ventilated discs will be seen, which of course can provide immense stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Focus RS Mk1 factory build records reveal that this example was built on 19th May 2003 as Build Number 3260. Registered new on the 6th June 2003 by Ford Main Dealers, C.D. Bramall Motors Ltd of Hull, this example has had just two former keepers from new. A new car sales invoice confirms the first owner, Mr Neil Wilson, paid £19,994.99 for the car and almost exactly a year later the second registered keeper, Mr Parr, purchased the car for slightly more money! Ford experts will notice the pink throttle cable grommet, start button sticker and plastic covers at the base of the rear seats, features of the unofficially named later phase 2 cars, and yet the front seats without double stitching as per the earlier build examples.

All original handbooks, guides and special RS supplement are contained within the Ford leather RS wallet and there are ten stamped entries in the service book, the last being a Ford Main Dealer service in July 2026. This last service also included a cambelt and the four figure invoice is neatly filed in the large history file as proof of maintenance. Even the original welcome letters have been kept! Two keys are present along with the RS fobs with broken hoops. A huge file of receipts and Ford invoices detail all servicing and maintenance work along with virtually every MOT certificate from the very first in 2006 to warrant the mileage. An amazing example and one for the connoisseur.

MOT July 2027, HPI Clear.
