Unusual, striking and undoubtedly cool, the Zetta EV is a wonderful automotive curiosity. A fibreglass replica of the beloved BMW Izetta bubble cars, these Zettas have a the quirky micro car cool at a far more sensible price point.

This 1998 Zetta is a little more interesting than most - having been converted to a hybrid electric setup by the previous keeper - an engineer and inventor - in the late 1990s. Emerging from long term storage it is now looking for a motivated individual to revitalise and refresh this epic little car.

Cosmetically the car looks quote well, finished in a metallic style blue throughout. There are few lighter marks and blemishes commensurate with age but its hard to argue against the fact it remains a striking standout car to look at. The front hinged door panel still functions correctly and the rag top roof pulls back, though it is missing one of the fixing brackets.

Mechanically is where things get a little interesting. The previous keeper - who built the car - informs us of the car is currently running a 5.5hp Honda lawnmower engine paired with a set of AGM batteries, a set up which is capable of 55mph with a cruising speed of 45mph, for a 20-30 mile journey between charges.

At present the car is a non runner. The older AGM batteries have died and need to be replaced with more modern lithium batteries. The Honda engine turns over but the carb needs a refresh and rebuild before a return to the road.
