The W123 generation of Mercedes is arguably one of the marque's finest ever creations. Well styled, robust and built with that legendary Mercedes overengineered build quality these cars have quite the following around the globe, and this 1985 car could be seen as a great value way into 123 ownership.

A 280 E saloon now eligible for tax, MOT and ULEZ exemption, B801 WVM presents as a car that holds great potential. In good mechanical form it is one that could be simultaneously used and improved upon at the hands of a motivated new owner.

Cosmetically the car is OK. As highlighted in the accompanying photos, the bodywork leaves a little to be desired in places, though remaining a striking car, it will need some welding and rust repair to be brought back to former glory. Thankfully parts and panels are readily available for these W123s. The interior looks to be in good well preserved, largely original form throughout.

Mechanically the Merc seems to be in good order. We have taken it for a short test drive around our farm and it performed without issue; starting, running, driving and stopping.
