Description

This awesome looking TR3 is fresh from 51 year ownership and is offered out at a trade rate to clear - I am open to sensible offers.
The car is by no means original but it is painted beige, its original factory colour. No carpets (which merely attract damp and rot, and add weight!), but some interior trim - and a Northern TR Centre trim kit comes with it.

It has 3 fibreglass wings and a louvered bonnet. It is structurally sound, but not perfect.
It has a later engine, linered out to 2188cc (ie. a proper 2.2 litres), hi-port cylinder head, a fast road cam, Phoenix tubular 4-2-1 exhaust, hi-po starter, TR4A inlet manifold, electric radiator fan, spin-on oil filter unit, 1-box exhaust (quite loud). Battery isolator red switch.
Engine oil pressure is superb (70 lbs/sq. in. at 3k rpm), and it retains reassuringly healthy pressure at idle when the engine is hot.
A v. good overdrive unit, operating faultlessly on 2nd, 3rd and 4th.
A Girling back axle from Revington TR (therefore bomb-proof half-shafts);
TR6 front disc brakes for reassuring descent of mountain passes(!).
Regular oil and filter changes and greasing for the 50 yrs it's been with me.
Steering box and front suspension rebuilt by Willow TR in 2018.
It comes with full weather kit - including a hard-top, though it has been on aero screens since 2001. It also has occasional rear seats and fitted 2 race safety harnesses.

Spares: include a sound petrol tank (which will need flaky sealant removed from the interior),
and a standard exhaust manifold,
A Lockheed back axle (c/w broken half-shaft).
A pair of H6 SU carbs needing a rebuild,
New underwing sealing kit,
New rear over-riders c/w irons,
2 spare wire wheels,
5 steel wheels.

Being an early 3, the car is quite rare. It is quite well known in the Register (I think there are only 3 beige ones in the UK), and looks great from 20 yards. But it's far from concours (a bit tatty in a number of places) and will need continuing love and attention.
However it drives and handles well, and has been a delight to drive & sounds biblical!
They're not often as much fun to drive, look as cool or are as solid as this one. Yes, it does have the odd bit here & there, but if you want a fun driving classic, you'd be hard pressed to beat this one value for money wise!
