One of the finest and most driver focused BMW M3’s ever made, now with one of the largest enthusiast followings, the E36 generation of M3 is a real gem and arguably one of the most sought after modern classic sports cars. This 1997 cabriolet is a rather special thing, being a “M3 Evolution” with the higher capacity 3.2 litre engine, manual gearbox and a host of other dynamic improvements all wrapped up in a rare Estoril Blue colour scheme.

Running and driving, this is a rare opportunity to get into an M3 Evo at a great value attainable price point.

Cosmetically the BMW can be considered fundamentally OK. It’s certainly striking in rare Estoril Blue, though the body is a little tatty in places, with a few age related marks and some flawing to the finish in places. The electronic soft top roof is working though the rear screen shows a little tarnishing and likely will need some attention/restitching.

Mechanically the car appears well. We took it for a short test drive around our farm and it started, drove, changed gear and stopped. Though it should be noted the car has seen limited use recently so a good going over may be beneficial. At present the fuel gauge is not working and the ABS light is on.
