Factory Options: Colour coded hard top with heated glass window, air conditioning, Minnesota leather seats with matching door inserts, CD autochanger, mud flaps. MR2 Genuine Accessories: Chrome exhaust trim, gloss Grey side air intake vents (originals retained), locking wheel nuts, carbon effect instrument panel, carbon effect door sill trim, tailored carpet MR2 floor mats.
EXTERIOR
Finished in gleaming Astral Black, (Code 202), the paintwork is factory original and presents beautifully, thanks to the pampered 22,731 miles covered. Garaged and only ever used as a dry day weekend car, the body and underside condition is superb. All panels complete with factory VIN labels are pin straight and close scrutiny reveals little more than some touched in stone chips and minor marks. The highly sought-after factory hard top complete with electric heated rear window is in good condition with some light storage marks and the original soft top is fully intact. Very rare as they are often lost, is the hardtop kit pouch that holds the colour coded covers to replace the chrome hard top locators and even the ultra-rare leather ‘boxing glove’ covers that fit on the rubber locator posts. The car wears supplying dealer number plates and rear screen sticker to the soft top. A subtle revision to the styling comes in the form of the gloss Grey side air intake vents from a post-facelift model, although the original plastic vents are retained if the 100% standard look is desired. Without question one of the best examples with huge specification.
INTERIOR
An expensive factory option, the Minnesota Red Leather upholstery, (Code FA30), to the seats and door cards is pristine and compliments the Astral Black paintwork beautifully. The sporty seats are firm with no notable wear and thanks to garage storage from new, the deep red pigment is retained. Carpets remain protected by genuine MR2 velour mats and the headlining to both the soft and hard tops retain full tautness. Light scratches to the plastic b-pillar trims where the seatbelts have recoiled are visible but do not detract from the overall terrific condition. The leather steering wheel and gear knob portray the very low mileage and all equipment functions including the ice-cold air-conditioning. Behind the radio cover is the factory fitted SONY stereo with CD and MiniDisc player connected to the optional CD changer, the envy of many car audio enthusiasts around the early 2nd millennium!
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This highly responsive, mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive roadster delivers outstanding performance with its 1.8 litre VVT-i, (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence), technology. Producing 136 bhp at 6,400 rpm in a car weighing less than a ton, (after you have left the hardtop in the garage), is a formidable package with performance figures quoted at 129 mph top speed and 0-62 mph in 8.0 secs. Lifting the rear engine cover reveals a very clean engine bay with all plates and stickers intact. The power can be fully exploited with a five-speed close ratio manual transmission offering slick and rapid gear changes.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Light weight 5-spoke alloy wheels with locking wheel nuts have no kerb damage and only very light age-related markings. Pemium Uniroyal RainSport 5 tyres of correct size 185/55 R15 front and 205/50 R15 rear were fitted in July 2025. The urge to exploit the exciting performance is inevitable and so ABS braking and ventilated front and rear discs ensure controlled, stable braking.
HISTORY FILE
This brilliant and highly collectable pre-facelift Toyota MR2 Roadster was registered new on the 22nd of June 2001 by Toll House Toyota Horsham. In August 2005, the car was sold once again by the supplying dealership and remained family owned by Mother and Son for 20 years with the used vehicle order form and sales invoice in the history file. The service book holds 12 stamped entries with 10 being the supplying Toyota dealership. The most recent service in May 2026 was carried out using genuine Toyota parts accompanied by parts invoice. The black leather Toyota MR2 Passport folder neatly houses all handbooks and even dealer business cards as well as three original Toyota keys with fobs. There is a separate neatly organised folder of Toyota service invoices and all MOT records to fully warrant the mileage and catalogue all work diligently carried out. There is also an original sales brochure in the file along with a letter from the previous owner (Son), recalling the long-term family ownership. Previously sold by KGF Classic Cars we are thrilled to offer this fabulous car suitable for another enthusiast wanting a prime, ultra-low mileage and cosseted example.
MOT May 2027, HPI Clear.
