As the modern variant becomes more and more popular and a true icon on the roads, the early W460 generation Mercedes G Wagons are quickly rising the ranks to become one of the most sought after classic 4x4s out there. Eligible for tax and MOT exemption and in sought after LWB 7 seat form, this 1983 280GE ticks a lot of the important boxes and can be seen to hold great potential, having been extensively welded and resprayed, the hard work has effectively already been complete, and now needs a motivated enthusiast with a bit of knowhow to finish it off. What will result is a quality historic classic G Wagon.

Cosmetically the truck looks rather well. It benefits from a recent bodywork overhaul, with the lower bodywork sections of the vehicle having had the rust cut away and new sections fabricated and welded in before a respray in a period Mercedes blue. It now stands as a striking example aesthetically. The inside looks to be generally well in largely original order.

Mechanically the Mercedes is being sold as a non runner. Having been stored prior to our acquisition, we have not endeavoured to get it started. The underside looks generally OK and the chassis seems well, with an accompanying photo in the history file suggesting some body off restoration work in its past.
