EXTERIOR
What an absolute show stopper! When KGF Classic Cars purchased this rare Light Commercial Vehicle, (LCV), Pick-up as part of a package classic Mini deal to include two Mini vans in 2019, we just had to keep it! Finished in Old English White it adorned our company logo, now removed without trace, and was a fantastic promotional tool and versatile vehicle, so both good looking and hard working! Tastefully accessorised with expensive period features such as genuine Cooper steel wheels, Lucus lighting and much more, this example presents really well with a clean body-coloured underside too. The correct pressed metal front grille that is not removable like the saloons and sliding windows are still fitted and all chrome bumpers have a bright mirror finish. The simple fold-down tailgate gives easy access to the ample load space which, along with the rest of this commercial vehicle, has seen very little recent hard work! A stunning show piece.
INTERIOR
A very classy place to be and not like the utilitarian interior the vehicle was born with! Immaculate Newton commercial carpets and additional sound deadening are fitted and all door cards are pristine. There are some light stains to the vinyl headlining and all supplementary expensive Smiths gauges function. Modern conveniences like the USB charging sockets and a period style radio CD player co-ordinate beautifully with traditional improvements such as the Mota-Lita wooden steering wheel. Thoughtful enhancements such as an indicator on buzzer and electric fan switch make classic car outings both fun and reassuring. This example is one to enjoy.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Simple motoring with the 998cc A-series engine allowing the novice home mechanic to tinker if desired! Producing just 39BHP, progress is sedate, but the looks and smiles generated from the sound of the Fletcher part stainless exhaust system makes up for it! An uprated cooling system and many new components offers reliable use and for the exhibitionists, the engine bay is stunningly clean. The four-speed gearbox is fitted with a new clutch and offers smooth and precise gear changes.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Desirable and genuine Mini Cooper steel wheels are shod in grippy Yokohama Advan 165/70 R10 tyres with masses of tread. An uprated front brake disc conversion is a massive improvement over the standard twin leading-shoe drum set up.
HISTORY FILE
This now very rare Mini Pick-up has luckily survived the typical life of commercial vehicle abuse and now enjoys a pampered show circuit instead! It is generally reckoned that the Minivan and Pick-up had a useful commercial life of about five years, (Source: Classic Van & Pick-up June 2011), so this example registered on the 1st August 1981 has done very well to still be here! Purchased by KGF Classic Cars in September 2019 from a classic Mini collector, Mr Coe as part of a three car deal to include two Minivans, the decision was made to keep this little gem as a promotional vehicle with an element of practicality! Mr Coe had a collection consisting of three commercials, two Coopers and a delivery mileage Mini Ritz and was passionate about anything Mini! A colossal A4 folder of history documents the massive expenditure along with a five-page magazine feature in Miniworld dated July 2002. A vehicle handbook in the grey Supercover folder and period brochure are also included. Super cool, super rare and super desirable, this little Mini has it all!
