The Appeal
The 1303S was the most advanced iteration of the Volkswagen Beetle. It was based upon the so-called 'Super Beetle' platform, with Macpherson Strut front suspension. The 1303 had a curved windscreen and padded dashboard, while the added letter 'S' denotes the 1.6-litre twin-port flat-four.
The Condition
• Very presentable and attractive example, with smart aftermarket alloy wheels
• A couple of areas exhibit bubbling paintwork, but the car is solid overall.
• Some damage to the paintwork on the driver's door
• Earlier-type front wings fitted, with indicators supplementing those in the bumper.
• Missing bonnet rubbers, but replacements are present and ready to be fitted.
. Some damage where the suncap meets the roof.
• Driver's seat has a tear and both front seats could use refurbishment.
• Back seat is in good condition but different from the front seats • Speakers are available but not fitted.
• Front of CD player is not available.
The Mechanics
• 1.6-litre air-cooled flat-four.
• Four-speed manual gearbox.
• Mechanically sound, starts fine, idles well, and revs freely.

This little bug had a ground up rebuild in the early 2000's and early this year had an MOT style check and passed with only a sticking brake drum. It currently has a smaller steering wheel fitted but an original size one is available. The car also comes with spare rear lights and a full car cover. The tyres are in good condition and it has the 1600 engine. The tank sender unit needs replacing and that is included in the sale. It runs well and sounds great.
• The dash is cracked but a rare, hard to find, replacement is ready to be installed.
