Description

motodrome are pleased to offer this rather lovely 1960 Jaguar Mark II 2.4 manual with overdrive, finished in Opalescent Green with red leather.

102093DN is an original UK car and a very early Mark II, and still retains it’s early features such as recessed sun visors, transposed indicator and overdrive stalks, early throttle pedal, and flat headlamp lenses.

It also retains it’s original prized registration number.

It underwent a very comprehensive body, mechanical, interior and electrical restoration 2008 to 2013, and has been used very sparingly since, seemingly only around 2000 miles. We have a massive folder of bills for the restoration, and a good sheaf of photos showing the shell stripped to bare metal.

It’s fitted with chrome wire wheels, Coopercraft front brakes, stainless exhaust, dynamotor conversion, kenlowe fan, and 123 electronic ignition system. But the crowning glory, for me at least as in over 30 years of familiarity with MKII’s, is that it sports the rare and desirable ‘Derrington’ steering wheel. I’ve never previously had a MKII thus fitted.

It also has a period Motorola radio, but with modern internals including cable connection for music etc.

The V5 shows just 3 previous owners, and it has an odometer reading of just over 71000 miles.

11 years on from it’s restoration it still presents beautifully, sits right, and has excellent panel gaps etc. It’s a really lovely MKII in my opinion.

The 2.4 6 cylinder XK-engined compact Jaguars are more of a wafter than the 3.4 or 3.8 models, but still provide an enriching experience either behind the wheel, or as a passenger. Whilst clearly they don’t have the outstanding performance of their bigger-engined siblings, they still cruise along quite happily. However you won’t be using it as a getaway car from a blag anytime soon…

On our own website, you’ll find our usual two videos: a walkaround appraisal, and driving impressions, which form part of the description.

Based Henley-on-Thames – viewing by prior appointment.
