Description
motodrome offer for sale this gorgeous 1969 Morris Cooper 1275 S Mark II, finished in it’s original colour scheme of Island Blue with Snowberry White roof.
This is a genuine Cooper S, not a replica or evocation, that having been off the road at least since the mid-2000’s, over the last 4 years has undergone a full nut and bolt rebuild allegedly costing over £45000.
The car was stripped back to bare metal and resprayed to its original factory colour combination of Island Blue with Snowberry White roof. The shell is reputedly the original. The respray was completed 2 years ago, since then the last owners have been rebuilding the car - if anything was not up to standard they have replaced it. My mechanic has subsequently been all over the car as below, and he confirms the standard of workmanship on the shell is absolutely first class, with new floors, sills and pillars etc let in perfectly with extremely tidy welding.
The interior is as-new with retrimmed seats, new door cards, new carpets, new seat belts and new headlining, and a new Moto-Lita woodrim steering wheel.
Everything mechanical has been stripped back and restored or replaced . The engine and gearbox are both reputedly the originals and both have been fully rebuilt, and the previous owners have reinstated the original hydrolastic suspension setup/
Odometer reading 18000 miles, although it’s done less than 150 miles since being rebuilt, and everything is still bedding in.
The heritage certificate shows it as an original UK RHD example that was built on 14th March 1969 and despatched to the original supplying dealer on 27th July 1969.
Interestingly, a previous owner researched the owner history from DVLA, and a photocopy of the original logbook shows the first owner as ‘Keith Richard’ from 1969-75. Probably not the guitar legend, although he was known as Keith Richard rather than Richards in the 60’s and 70’s.
Whilst it’s road tax, MOT, and ULEZ exempt, it will come with a fresh 12M MOT.
When it came to us, it was supposedly 100% finished. I then drove it and put together an extensive snagging list of things we needed to attend to as is inevitable with a fresh restoration. We’ve just spent another 40 hours labour on it to address the items I identified, plus others my workshop found when we took it apart, and it’s now ready for a new owner to enjoy. ,
On our own website, you’ll find our usual two videos, a comprehensive walkaround and driving impressions, which form part of the description.
