The cockpit as you would expect is completely unmarked and original in every way, we even have the original radio fitting kit (BHH 2248) unopened in its original envelope, full tonneau cover and hood envelope still have the original fabric transporting bags from factory... Incredible originality

Exterior

The all original factory panels and paint finish in Inca Yellow (Code BLVC 207) are in outstanding order with perfect shut lines and gaps. The underside is solid throughout and all original having never been undersealed.

All original brightwork and Triplex glass in as new order. The original black rubber bumpers are perfect throughout with no disfiguration or marks. Original hood, envelope and full tonneau are perfect, fits snuggly and screens perfectly clear... Stunning.

Wheels, Tyres & Brakes

The original 5 pressed-steel Rostyle wheels are in exceptional original condition, fitted with brand new Pirelli Cinturato 145SR 13 tyres. We have the original Dunlop fitment tyres with the car.

Dual circuit hydraulic Lockheed brake system, front 8. 25in dia disc, rear; 7in dia drum, perfectly balanced and pull up strongly. Steering is precise and responsive.

Engine & Transmission

Original matching numbers 1. 5 litre o. h. v. straight four-cylinder 1491cc engine is superb. Needless to say, she responds superbly, starts easily hot or cold, has perfect oil pressure, and idles faultlessly as you would expect having only covered a mere 43 miles. The gearbox and clutch are light and precise. A full service and full recommissioning has been completed including new hoses, re-cored original radiator, new battery, coolant and brake fluid change, fuel system flushed etc.

The engine and engine bay are spotless and retain all the original British Leyland factory decals including handwritten markings to the bonnet and front slam panel...

Summary

This incredible MG Midget was supplied new by Charles Clark Wolverhampton Limited, official Leyland Cars Dealer and sold to Bird & Yates Garage, Cannock Staffordshire on 14th May 1979. The car has remained with the Yates family for the last 44 years.

The vehicle at the time cost £2525.44 including car tax, delivery charge and VAT. The car remained unregistered and kept in the Bird & Yates Garage showroom until first registered for the road on 30th December 1992. The Midget was only registered due to concerns that it may not be able to be registered in 1993 due to the new catalytic converter laws stating that any car registered in 1993 would require a catalytic converter to pass an MOT. DVLA issued a correct age related registration number AVT 142S.

The history file contains the original MG Midget sales brochure, original bill of sale, 2 original keys and keyring, invoices for servicing and recommissioning work, British Motor Industry Heritage Certificate stating date of factory dispatch 17th July 1978, Leyland Cars handbook portfolio wallet, drivers handbook, Leyland Service point of sale interior mirror hanging card, Leyland Passport To Service booklet, Leyland Supercover leaflets, and a lovely letter from the Yates family (Bird & Yates Garage) detailing the history of this Midget from new.

A fresh 12 month MOT will be completed upon sale and of course this Midget is HPI clear with certificate included.
