Description

1983 (A) BMW Alpina B2.8 Saloon

The Alpina B2.8 was a UK only model launched in October 1983 by UK importers Sytner as a loss leader for the brand.

Based upon the BMW E28 528i, the B2.8 conversion included Alpina Wheels, Alpina Spoilers front & rear, Alpina Suspension Springs & Dampers, Alpina Steering Wheel, optional Alpina stripe kit and the Alpina B9 exhaust system raising power from the standard 528i's 184bhp to 192bhp

Around 20 were built and less than 10 have reportedly survived.

This car was supplied new in November 1983 by Western Counties BMW in Bristol and has covered less than 55k from new.

In stunning Henna Red with Grey Velour interior, this Alpina B2.8 looks every bit the 80's supersaloon that it was.

The car has been in long term ownership from 1988 to 2021 and was dry stored for much of that period. It was recommissioned in 2022 with a full brake overhaul with new discs, pads & hoses, a new fuel tank and fuel lines, a full service including valve clearances and a fresh MOT showing no advisories. It is supplied with its original book pack with partially stamped handbook and still bears its original "Western Counties" rear window sticker.

Since purchasing the car we have spent thousands of pounds and massive amount of man hours improving and transforming this example to the car presented today.

The exterior has been repainted in factory correct Hennarot (Henna Red) paint, the engine bay has been refreshed, being cleaned, repainted and detailed and ancillaries have been replaced/refurbished where required. The original wheels have been fully refurbished. Original Alpina & BMW parts have been sourced from Germany at great cost to complete this car as accurately as possible including a correct Gold stripe kit, original Alpina rear spoiler, all badges, Alpina wheel centres, fog lamps, grille and many other parts.

The result is a beautiful example of this rare Alpina BMW which is becoming very hard to find, this car would make a perfect addition to any car collection or as a first entry in to classic car ownership and is sure to appreciate in value as time goes on.
