Description

This superb Roadster is finished in light blue Jaguar metallic with two tone light and dark blue leather trim, complemented by a dark blue soft top and side screens. This XK120 is an early vehicle with the chrome outside sidelights, steel wheels, hub caps, rim embellishers and rear wheel spats. It drives like new and is in near concours condition having covered a mere 7000 miles. The car was discovered in the USA in a state of disrepair by Michael Erroll who was a long-time Jaguar enthusiast and Chairman of the Surrey Vintage Vehicle Society for 20 years (hence the private reg VVS245 which he purchased and which was sold with the car). The vehicle was repatriated back to the UK in 1989 whereupon it received a ground up restoration body off the chassis, bare metal repaint and retrim etc. This took place from 1989-1993 at a cost in excess of £42000 at that time. There is a full photographic record with the car and the car has travelled very few miles since the restoration. The history folder includes: current V5, previous MoT certificates, invoices, condition report, write up on xk120’s, the photographic record, workshop manual, various write-ups etc. plus factory press release pictures. This car was sold new to the Jaguar Garage Homburg, Sunset Boulevard, LA to be their demonstration vehicle and has been purported to have been owned by the actor Clarke Gable- and it may well have been – but we have no cast iron proof. That said this is a beautiful, mint example of the marque and offered at a sensible price for both the condition and the rarity.
