An historically cherished car but now requiring tlc.

As you can no doubt see from the photos above these early model 3.6cc Jaguar XJS Coupes really are a joy to behold and are almost without question the next Jaguar model to skyrocket.

Top examples are now demanding figures well in excess of £20,000+ and I have even seen one on the market toppling £30,000…!!!

With the above in mind, I am totally convinced that this example is the perfect opportunity for someone to give themselves a beautiful car to recommission/improve/restore then drive and enjoy, whilst they decide on when (or if) they are going to cash-in on their wise investment.

She has seen little use over the last few months, nevertheless, on getting her back to the farm she started more-or-less on the button and sounded very well indeed considering her short time unused and stored. I did notice the fuel gauge didn`t work and there `may` be other issues but this aside it is still for you to come and examine for yourself as to satisfy yourself as to what you are bidding on as I`m purely just an honest classic car fanatic casting my own unqualified opinions, I am neither a qualified mechanic nor a panel beater.

The overall upper bodywork is still appearing fundamentally good for her age but due to long-term use and storage, she has got both body and paint imperfections that you may wish to attend to. I have not examined the underside or tested all the electrics so please feel free to come and do this for yourself if anything here is a deal-breaker for you. As a heads-up the previous owner told me the handbrake, the horn and c/locking may require attention. These sound like relatively easy DIY fixes to me.

The interior appears all there and seems a pleasant enough place to be albeit carrying an age-related patina. The headlining has seemingly dropped, and the wood veneer has cracked and split in places and in reality, would look a lot better replaced.

So, in summary, this wonderful iconic classic XJS Coupe is ready for a light restoration to go on and serve any new custodian proud. She has been in storage for a little while now so a good going over of all running gear, fluids and perishables would be advisable before returning her back to the open roads… At present she starts, runs and stops fine and has a current MOT running until Sept 2022 but will probably/possibly require work for her next MOT test. Possibly even welding to the underside…

Pricewise, there is currently an almost identical example up for sale on the open market @ £15,000…!!! I would say from looking around that £8,000 - £20,000 is probably the going rate depending on condition, previous owners, mileage, etc... So, with this in mind I`m sure at the very low reserve I have set for this desirable low(ish) mileage little car she will prove a wonderful restoration investment opportunity for someone to reap potentially huge rewards.

This is a one-off opportunity, so don`t miss out.

I am very keen to sell hence I have set a very realistic and easily achievable reserve.

I hope I have covered most things but please feel free to ask as many questions as you like as one would expect this with a rare car like this.

Thank you for looking

PLEASE NOTE:

According to the previous owner all the above is accurate but if certain details are important to you then please verify these details for yourself `before` placing a bid as this is not an option once purchased and must be taken as hearsay as opposed to factual for the purpose of this sale.

All our cars are sold `as-seen` so please feel free to request a viewing `beforehand` to make sure you will be totally happy with your purchase once bought.

Although viewings are always welcomed (and encouraged) on all our vehicles, we do understand that this may not always be possible, hence, with this in mind if you have a serious proposition to put towards us `and` you have spoken to us on the phone, then we would be more than happy to provide you with a walk-around video of any of our classic cars. We are not a showroom outlet so we would have to take time out to do this for you, hence, this option is ONLY available to serious potential buyers.

We reserve the right to pursue any non-paying bidder for the full purchase price and/or any loss of earnings or any consequential costs through the County Courts. Although this is an action we do not embark upon lightly, the current rate of non-paying (or even contacting) winning bidders has become so disproportionate that we were forced to seek and take legal advice and action. We currently have a 100% success rate. Please be warned, any property you currently own may be at risk if you fail to complete on your legally binding contract
