Description

The Triumph Stag styled by Giovanni Michelotti was produced from 1970 to 1977 with a total of 25939 cars produced. It only came with one engine a 3.0 liter V8 ohc engine that is unique to the Triumph Stag and that emits a lovely burble. Manufacturing and engineering faults mainly with the engine lead to an early poor reputation for reliability but the specialist classic car sector has developed solutions for the issues and with the right care and attention these cars can be run as a reliable open top classic cruiser.

We have here a Mark 3 version of the Triumph Stag first registered in April 1976. It shows 80000 miles and appears very original still having the original 3.0 litre V8 engine coupled to an automatic gearbox that compliments the cruising nature of the car. Last MOT’d in 2009 it had a lot of money spent on it to get it into great condition before it went into storage.

It runs and drives well with no sign of over-heating but needs some TLC to bring it back to excellent condition following its return to the road. There is little paperwork with the car but it does come with the desirable hard top.

It would make a great basis for a light rolling restoration while enjoying open top summer motoring. These cars are well supported by an excellent owners club and an array of classic car specialists, resulting in more than 8200 Stags still being on the road the vast majority still with the original 3.0 litre V8 engine.

It must be said this car looks great in the classic white and black colour combination and sounds wonderful. Priced to sell and open to offers as the owner needs the space for other projects.
