The Defender has also undergone some OEM+ performance and security upgrades, with the most noticeable enhancements coming from the Alive Tuning work which included the following:

The car now reliably produces 180bhp (up from the original 122) and also creates 504nm torque at just 1955rpm! Although this would be superb as a tow vehicle with its uprated power figures, this XS was never fitted with a tow bar from new and has therefore never once towed in its life.

The other upgrades fitted to the XS have mostly been security based bar the odd aesthetical and preservative enhancements such as the light guards, Climair wind deflectors and the clear undersealing of the vehicle.

In terms of security, hinge guards have been fitted to all the doors and ball bearings placed in the heads of all of the bolts to help prevent any unnecessary interest from unwanted visitors!

Similarly, the car has also been fitted with the Britpart Land Rover security marking and registration system which gives the vehicle an identity as unique as a fingerprint.

This system is part of the international security register (ISR) and the car is registered with them and supported by a 24/7 verification service, that has proven successfully to deterring and detecting theft and also proving fraud for over 30 years.
