Very Rare Model Indeed

Starts, Runs and Stops...

This car I believe is a dead-cert future investment being the model it is, AND in the very rare factory black livery. With the cream leather interior this is undoubtedly the best colour scheme to have one if these hidden gems in.

Good examples are already being regularly advertised for well above 12k+ with top low mileage examples asking as much as £19,000…!!! Even right her currently advertised on eBay… Go check if you don`t believe me…

This is one of only 991 models ever produced.

Undoubtedly a sound investment and future classic.

Top of the XJ40 performance tree sat JaguarSport’s XJR. With uprated suspension (including revised Bilstein dampers), weightier steering and a tuned engine (251bhp and 278lb ft torque, thank you very much) it had a fair bit more about it than its standard brethren.

Not only could it devour the 0-60mph sprint in 7.7secs, on its way to a top speed 146mph, but its handling was also in a different class. Factor in cosmetic tweaks of a sporting nature and the XJR had kudos aplenty.

Survivors of this generation are rare indeed with many driven into the ground. When you consider that Jaguar only made 991 4.0-litre XJR examples that makes this rare factory black example exceedingly rare indeed.

With prices at this level already who knows where they will be in 3, 4, 5 years` time… £20,000 - £30,000 - £40,000…?!?!?!!

This particular car still remains in relatively good condition to the body with just a handful of obvious corrosion areas to the upper body from what I can see. The paintwork could probably do with a good cut and polish to get rid of the imperfections in the paint, and then maybe some general cosmetic tlc to make really nice again. I haven`t checked the underside but the previous MOT history shows zero signs of any corrosion issues whatsoever, with the last 2 MOTs passing with seemingly zero advisories

The interior, likewise, is in very good condition for her age, showing just minimal wear here and there. There are 1 or 2 loose trims, and you may wish to replace the front carpets, but overall, she`s still a relatively nice place to be.

This car was used frequently and lovingly for predominately short journeys by her previous owner before being laid-up just before the pandemic. It developed an intermitent stalling/starting issue which we discovered was a (common) faulty crankshaft sensor. We have temporarily installed a second hand one just so she can be heard running, but you may wish to get yourself a new unit for what little money they cost.

With the above in mind, and for clarity, this rare and beautiful classic car is being sold as a starting, running and stopping project…

You are free to come and check this rare and beautiful classic gem out during the auction for as long you need to, but you are NOT free to do this after you have won the auction, unless the car has been paid for in full. This rule applies whether you are trade or not…!!!

I am well aware that these cars are very rare and becoming increasingly valuable. This said, I am very keen to sell hence I have set a very realistic and easily achievable reserve. Especially considering I have seen lessor examples needing all sorts of bodywork, as well as mechanical work, asking figures well in excess of £8,000+...!!!

I have seen similar running cars to mine asking £12,000+…!!! I am not looking for as much as this but if you`re looking to deal with your car then look around this figure as a first port of call.

If you have a genuine interest/offer, and you are prepared to back it up, then I`m sure it could be quite easily sorted between you, myself and eBay.

I hope I have covered most things but please feel free to ask as many questions as you feel fit as one would expect this with such a rare car like this.

Thank you for looking
