1971 LOTUS ELAN S4 SE FIXED HEAD COUPE
This Type 36 fhc finished in Cirrus white and black trim was one of the last S4 Elans made. Only 5 keepers and has covered 59000 miles with minimal mileage since the restoration in 2012-2015 after lengthy storage. Restoration est cost circa £45k plus invoices for other work (£29k). The car was displayed at the NECPW at Newby Hall winning first prize rosette for Best Car in Show.
The Lotus Classic Certificate Feb 2016 confirms engine, chassis, make and model of car and colour, also confirms the car was built at the Lotus factory Feb 1969, sold then to the supplying dealer and subsequently sold/registered to the first owner March 1971.

The excellent performance of the Elan was derived from the combination of its powerful engine and lightweight. Roadholding and agility also meant that high speeds could be maintained on corners. Gordon Murray, designer of the McLaren, reportedly said that his only disappointment with the McLaren F1 was that he could not give it the perfect steering of the Lotus Elan! This lovely British Sportscar has to be driven to appreciate the great driving experience.
