Description
Arriving on site at the beginning of September is a Jaguar 3.8 Mark II. The Mark IIs are and always have been a highly desired classic within the vintage car circles and it seems their popularity is continuously on the rise. Finished in British racing green with contrasting red hide leather, wire wheels, RHD, manual over drive gearbox and housing what's regarded as the most popular power unit, the 3.8 engine.
Rather fitting of the colour, this Jaguar was previously owned by British racing driver and racing team owner John Coombs.
John purchased the Jaguar in 2005 with the intention of converting it into the style of the vintage racing mark 2 saloons, sadly this never materialised.
Prior to Johns purchase, the Jaguar was converted from an automatic gearbox, to a manual with overdrive.
Auctioned in December 2013, by the order of the late John Coombs estate, the Jaguar was sold by Bonhams.
The previous registered keeper in the V5 document is Mike MacDowel, Formula One racing Driver and British Hill Climb Champion. Mike was appointed, by John, as director of Coombs of Guildford dealership.
Within the paper work is a current V5 document showing 3 former keepers, 3.8 Mark II Handbook, sales invoices, some old photographs and website clippings.
This vehicle is now registered as a historic vehicle, benefiting from tax and MOT exemption.
