Renault has always had an affinity for producing hot hatches, and things have been no different with the Clio ever since the Williams version in the nineties. In the early 2000s the second generation Clio was given the full Renaultsport treatment and equipped with a 2 litre 16V engine producing, unsurprisingly 182bhp.

In some ways it’s the perfect real-world petrolhead car. It’s quick (0-62mph in 6.6sec), torquey, brilliantly chuckable, addictively interactive, cheap to run, able to carry 4 passengers, practical, and the list goes on……..

Sounds perfect already, but best of all, though, is that the Renaultsport Clio 182 represents the last of the genuinely supermini-sized, genuinely hard-edged hot hatches. Cars with this degree of driving purity just aren’t made any more !!
